The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History began working with foreign guest docents in 2019. 17 guest docents are currently active at the museum, giving information about the exhibits in English and 16 other languages to help foreign visitors better understand Korean history. At the moment, the docent service is provided in the following languages: Azerbaijani, Burmese, Chinese, Czech, English, French, Japanese, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Mongolian, Polish, Russian, Turkmen, Uzbek, Ukranian, and Vietnamese. We are looking for foreign guest docents again this year and highly encouraging foreigners living in Korea to participate. Please refer to the details below.
1. Overview
1) Job Title: Foreign Guest Docent
2) Preferred Languages(Nationalities): Spanish, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Swedish, Swahili, Japanese, Indonesian,etc.
3) Hiring Needs: Several foreigners fluent in one of the above languages
4) Requirements: 1) Interest in Korean modern history; 2) Fluency in Korean (professional-level communication required
5) Screening and Training Process
- Document Review: Application must be written in Korean.
- Interview: Korean proficiency and knowledge in Korean modern history
- Training: Docentship will be given after training on Korean modern history and the museum docent system.
